Overview of Psychological Evaluation Services

Psycholegal & Clinical Assessment Services provides general and forensic psychological testing services and mental health assessment services.   Psycholegal & Clinical Assessment Services’ Forensic psychologist, Dr. Steven Gaskell has been qualified as an  expert witness in Forensic Psychology throughout several counties in Illinois, Georgia, and Kansas.  He has extensive expertise performing psychological evaluations and providing expert testimony as a forensic psychologist regarding a variety of clinical and psycholegal issues:

Forensic psychologist Dr. Gaskell has performed more than 1000 Forensic Psychological Evaluations including over 500 pretrial psychological evaluations of defendants regarding Competency to Stand Trialand Criminal Responsibility or Sanity at the Time of the Offense.  He also has completed more than 500 sex offender risk assessment evaluations (Sex Offender Evaluations).  He has provided expert witness testimony as a forensic psychologist over 90 times and he has been both an expert witness for the prosecution and an expert witness for the defense.  He has been qualified as a Sex Offender Risk Assessment Evaluator by the DuPage County Department of Probation and Court Services.

Dr. Gaskell also performs psychological evaluations/psychological testing for insurance companies and attorneys in disability insurance matters and independent medical examinations (IME).  He offers general psychological evaluations in non-forensic settings.

Dr. Gaskell also offers comprehensive Psychological Trial Consultation services to help defense and plaintiff attorneys working on cases with psychological or psychiatric issues.  He researches the relevant professional literature to help develop specific direct and cross-examination strategies and critically review psychological evaluations, depositions, and other work of other expert witnesses.

Dr. Gaskell has been qualified as an expert in forensic psychology and has given expert testimony in the following Illinois counties:  Cook County, Will County, DuPage County, Kane County, Kendall County, Kankakee County, Lake County, Winnebago County, Ogle County, Bureau County, Fulton County, Champaign County, Sangamon County, Madison County, Adams County, Boone County and Jefferson County.  He has also testified in several counties throughout Georgia and Kansas.
