Psychosexual Evaluations
What Is a Psychosexual Evaluation?
A psychosexual evaluation is a thorough assessment of an individual's sexual development, interests, behaviors. In addition, it explores various risk factors and protective factors. The primary goals of the psychosexual evaluation are to determine the level of risk for sexual reoffending and to identify appropriate treatment needs. Psychosexual evaluations aim to:
Assess the presence of paraphilic or deviant sexual interests, as well as paraphilic disorders.
Evaluate the risk of sexual reoffending using actuarial instruments, measures assessing dynamic risk factors, and utilizing research pertaining to other research-based risk and protective factors.
Identify treatment needs, as well as treatment recommendations.
Provide insights for court proceedings, probation, parole, immigration, or sex offender registration.
Components of the Psychosexual Evaluation
Our psychosexual evaluations include:
Clinical interview to gather comprehensive personal and sexual history.
Use of empirically validated risk assessment tools (Static-99R, Static-2002R).
Use of dynamic risk instruments (Stable-2007), as well as research-based risk and protective factors.
Review of legal documents, including police reports and court records.
Review of medical records and mental health records.
Psychometric testing to assess personality traits and behavioral patterns.
Review of prior psychological evaluations.
